My name is Yi-Hsiu Kung, you can call me Terry. My friends
all call me Terry or Cherry.
I would like to be a
Chef in the future, could be many different type of chef. I was helping in a
kitchen of my friend in Vancouver and I had a good time there with many
friends. After that I became a helper and learner in the same kitchen because
they need one more people in their kitchen. Therefore I start to learn more and
more basic things in the kitchen. When I moved to Toronto and one of my friends
came with me he invited me to work with him in the Weston Chinese Food
Restaurant. In WCF restaurant, I start to working for Wok and pre. In that time
I really had a hard time to get better at Wok and Pre station. In fact, during
that time, I really enjoy to learn more and more thing about cooking or making
the dishes that we use to order in restaurants. That makes me feel myself is so
good although I know there are so many things that I need to learn about
kitchen. After that I went to Liberty Noodle (Eaton Center food court) to work
as a wok, pre, sup, sushi and cashier station. I didn’t learn any skill about
to work in kitchen in LN restaurant but I learn how to run a kitchen how to run
a restaurant. There is one day I saw one of my friends in Vancouver, he open
his first restaurant, and therefore I start to think should I do it too. That is
why I come to GBC to learn more and more things that I might not learn in a
kitchen.
I like to see people’s
face when they see or eat the dishes that I make for them. I like to make and
more dishes that I saw before but didn’t know how to make it yet. I like to
find more and more good dishes and make it for everyone. I prefer to get more knowledge
and experience about to open my own restaurant in the future.
